How it works


The Lock ’n’ ReleaseTM bar comprises a few components. The first one is a correcting angular custom abutment. The abutment can be manufactured with an angle of up to 30° and can fit with the majority of implant systems. The result: a perfect parallel restoration.

Unique attachements

Two of the implants are used to install the ball attachments, which lock the mechanism of the bar in position. Because of the unique design of the attachments, a regular hex screwdriver is not required, which prevents food from getting stuck in.

The cones

The cones are positioned on all the other implants. Because of the simplicity of this type of bar, only three implants are required, which makes this restoration available for more patients. Each cone stabilizes the prosthesis and offers extra support.

Pressing two buttons

Through the mechanism, the bar can be released from the ball attachments by pressing on the two buttons. A housing holds a rubber cylinder that forces each button to come back to its original place and keeps the system locked when in position.

An extra care was taken into the selection of high-quality materials to create a well-designed mechanism that will last numerous years. A final screw holds all the components together, thus making it easy to replace any parts if needed.

About the Inventors of the Lock ’n’ ReleaseTM

The Lock ’n’ ReleaseTM concept bar has been developed as part of a collaboration between a dentist and dental technicians. The goal was to find a solution for a problem Dr. Richard Taché encountered in his day-to-day practice. Ten years ago, the first prototype of the Lock ’n’ ReleaseTM was designed, and many cases were done successfully since. In 2016, Panthera has joined the team to take this leading-edge concept to a higher level and offer this custom solution using CAD/CAM technology.

Dr. Richard Taché obtained a doctorate of dental surgery at Université de Montréal in 1971. He subsequently worked in private practice for ten years and held the position of clinician at Université de Montréal for 8 years, starting from 1973. Later, he earned a Master of Science and a speciality certificate in removable prosthodontics from the University of Texas.

Dr. Taché has actively contributed to the development of the dentistry field: from 1975 to 1985, he was director of the Société dentaire de Montréal; he acted as the secretary of the Federation of Dental Specialists of Quebec for 12 years from 1984; and he was appointed vice-president of the Association des prosthodontistes du Québec in 1988. His work is widely recognized by his peers and he has played a significant role in numerous scientific projects, for instance as a coordinator of the clinical research group in orofacial rehabilitation at Université de Montréal from 1988 to 1993 and as the director of the Medvedent R&D project (on endoprosthetic attachments) from 1992 to 1994. As a pioneer in his domain, Dr. Taché was the founding Director of the graduate program in prosthodontic rehabilitation from 1994 to 2002. From 1994 to 2001, he worked as a contributor for the Thératechnologie society.

This leader in prosthodontics is currently a member of the Société des experts en évaluation médico-légale du Québec and of the Société des médecins experts du Québec. Since 2004, he has been serving as chairman of INNOVATION TAP Inc. and has been bringing extensive knowledge to the company. He has given many conferences and wrote numerous articles; his work is recognized both nationally and internationally.
André Archambault is the founder, as well as chairman and CEO of Dent-Esthérium inc., a dental laboratory that has been known for its excellence and forward thinking since 1973. André Archambault became a certified dental technician after his studies at CÉGEP Édouard-Montpetit. He has since earned several certifications and specializations. Indeed, he obtained a certification as a dental ceramist from Dentsply in 1979, and another certification in implantology from Branemark – 3I – Innova in 1985. André Archambault received ceramic-glass casting certification by Corning Ware and pressable ceramic certification by Ivoclar.

With his practical training and his experience in a laboratory, André Archambault was able to specialize in the fabrication of fixed and removable prostheses and promote research and development in the field of implantology. He designed the trademark OPALTEC for crowns and is leading R&D activities for the design of prototyping of an individual cap. Finally, André Archambault is a lifetime member of the Centre de recherche industrielle du Québec and he has been taking part in various seminars and clinic days to promote the B.P.S. prosthesis of Ivoclar.
Marc-Antoine Archambault has been the owner and chairman of Dent-Esthérium Inc. since 2009. Beforehand, in 2003, he completed his studies in dental technology at CÉGEP Édouard-Montpetit. During his studies, Marc-Antoine Archambault received the student award for excellence sponsored by Ivoclar, as well as the Gold Medal Prize sponsored by GRAMM.

In 2003, he acted as an assistant trainer in dental CAD/CAM at CÉGEP Édouard-Montpetit. For continued training purposes, Marc-Antoine Archambault obtained the B.P.S. certification by Ivoclar. Thereafter, he became a corporate trainer for the International Dental Institute (I.D.I). Drawing on his experience, he has been offering technical support in implantology and advice for quality restorations. Marc-André Archambault has also contributed to his domain: he was a lecturer for the dental study groups of Quebec and a speaker for the I.D.I., in 2015 and 2016 respectively. Marc-Antoine Archambault’s career represents a consistent search for excellence and improvement.
